OUR STORY

In November of 1996, Eric Plantenberg and Roger Seip took their passion for helping people succeed and turned it into a company. Roger still finds humor looking back, “we didn’t have some of the details worked out… like how to find clients.” What they did have was tremendous conviction and a burning desire to help others experience personal freedom.

With backgrounds in sales and sales management, Eric and Roger began offering programs on Sales Training and Goal Setting. Shortly thereafter, they partnered with The Memory Training Institute, the world’s foremost memory development school. That system has worked out well for everyone involved. Over the last decade, we have continually developed new programs and have consistently expanded our capacity to offer more classes in more cities throughout the United States.

Jodi Matthews

Marketing Research Coordinator

Jodi Matthews

Jodi is a Marketing Research Coordinator with Freedom Personal Development, and a part of the team since January 2017. She is responsible for generating leads for the company, which involves the researching and collecting of information of prospective clients that the business needs in order to grow! It is ultimately our company’s mission to gain these prospects into long-term clients, whether it’s through a Train your Brain for Success program, Memory Training program, coaching, or some other avenue. Although Jodi does not have any direct contact with clients or prospects, it’s exciting to know the long sales cycle begins with her!

After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Jodi gained experience and held various positions within the retail and corporate areas with Walgreens Co. Not feeling totally fulfilled, she decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in teaching with certification. She taught fourth, fifth, and sixth-grade students at a K-8 private school over the course of four years. All the joy and fulfillment she felt with the career change, however, would be nothing compared to the decision she and her husband later would make – choosing for her to be a stay-at-home mom for their two children. 

Freedom Personal Development has given Jodi the opportunity and flexibility to work from home part-time. To her, it’s “the best of both worlds” as she describes it. “I am able to take care of and focus on our children which is ultimately my #1 priority, while still having something to call my own and be a part of a wonderful company with amazing people that feels like a second family.” When she’s not getting the kids off to school or to their activities, she is involved in their church, enjoys taking yearly Disney World family vacations, reading, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and making daily Starbucks runs. Her early morning iced chai tea latte sets the tone for her day.

Jamie Pawelski

Jamie Pawelski

Jamie joined the Freedom team in October 2012 as a Training Coordinator. She is responsible for contacting companies and starting the sales cycle to eventually turn prospects into clients. Jamie will also be coaching clients this year. Freedom is a perfect match for Jamie since she has been a student of personal development since 2004, she has worked in sales and/or appointment setting since then, and she is very entrepreneurial.

Prior to coming to Freedom, Jamie worked for 8 years in the financial services industry as a financial advisor, a Registered Assistant, and doing appointment setting for financial advisors and insurance agents. She is very passionate about the industry, and it’s no surprise that she is mostly responsible for working with financial and insurance companies for Freedom. Jamie also has 5 years of experience in social work. She thoroughly enjoys helping people and bettering their lives.

Jamie’s core values include: faith, abundance, transformation, leadership, giving, relationships and integrity. Her purpose statement: “I exist to serve by creating transformation.” This pretty much sums up her life. When Jamie is not working, she enjoys serving at church by playing keyboard and working with teenagers in Celebrate Recovery. She is very passionate about ministry. She enjoys attending personal development trainings and improving her life. She is very passionate about health and nutrition. She enjoys to travel and also makes several trips back “home” to Wisconsin every year to visit family and friends, and she especially loves seeing her niece and nephew. Jamie had a life-changing experience with Freedom’s Abundant Living Retreat and moved to sunny Las Vegas in 2013. Jamie enjoys living a very abundant life 🙂

Nick currently serves as Client Relations Manager and oversees all of the support needs of the entire organization and our clients. Nick’s enthusiasm for personal development, and his desire to see others succeed provide a foundation for him to consistently improve the experience of our clients and that of the entire organization.

When Nick isn’t at the office, you can typically find him enjoying the outdoors with his wife, and their two daughters.

Robb’s purpose is to inject excitement into everything he does. This purpose provides Robb the means to guide others (and himself) to become more effective in what they do while enjoying every minute of doing it. Because when you can more effectively accomplish the things you feel like you NEED to do, it lets you have way more fun when it comes time to doing the things you WANT to do!

With a history of success in Product Management, Sales and Marketing roles within the Outdoor, Bicycle and Fitness (aka “Passion Pursuit”) industries, Robb was notorious for bringing fun to the forefront while also encouraging people to embrace their passion and energy to get the job done. A dynamic and engaging speaker, Robb makes every effort to connect with the audience to help them understand what can be accomplished with the right attitude and work ethic.

An avid endurance athlete, fisherman and beer enthusiast, Robb has completed the infamous Triple Bypass bike ride, the Chicago Marathon and is in the midst of a multiple decades run of never getting skunked on his annual fishing trip. Robb currently lives with his wife (Kate) and their twins (Effie and Charlie) in Arlington Heights, IL.

Nikki Zorman

Nikki Zorman is a Training Coordinator at Freedom Personal Development. Nikki started out as a High School Teacher of History, while also serving as a Librarian and Audio Visual Director. She came to Madison to pursue a Master’s Degree in Library Science, but quickly realized that path did not mesh with her personality. Instead, she started as an Inside Sales Representative for a small Education Company, and the rest – is history. Nikki has been an Inside Sales Professional for the past 20 years, and has never looked back… She has sold Medical, Consumer / Corporate Packaging, University Bookstore wares- to name a few- and is now working with Freedom Personal Development products and staff.

Nikki’s passion is still in educating folks, only now that education is directed toward what we do here. Building rapport to develop lifelong customers and relationships is among her specialties. She will also tell you a little humor and “Gypsy Intuition” play a part in that mission.

Nikki has served on the Board of Directors for the American Society for Training &Development, as well as an advisor on Gifted /Talented teams.

Spare time is devoted to family and friends, cooking, music & the arts, along with hunting for bargains at Thrift Shops, wherever they are.
