Roger is back with part two of our series on finishing strong.
This week, we’re sharing a simple formula you can use to activate the gigantic, results producing power of your brain to ensure you finish strong and succeed in achieving your goals and creating the business and life you dream about.
This magic formula to activate your brain’s power to aggressively chase down your goals is actually quite simple.
There’s only 3 components to it: Intention, Attention, and No Tension
1. Intention: To finish strong, begin with a clear intention. Picture what you want to achieve and really understand why you want it. Visualize and imagine yourself crossing that finish line within your chosen time-frame. Whether you’re planning your week or any other period, clarity of purpose is essential.
2. Attention: Once you have your intention in mind, it’s time to put your focus on it. Regularly check in with yourself to see where you stand in relation to your goals. Reconnect with your goals and spend time on them systematically and periodically, whether it’s once a week or once a day. This helps you stay on track and ensures your actions align with your intentions.
3. No Tension: Now comes the ‘no tension’ part. Approach your tasks with a relaxed yet focused mindset. Avoid unnecessary stress and anxiety. Life will undoubtedly throw unexpected challenges your way, but having a clear intention and consistent attention will keep you on the right track.
To implement this in your own life, take some time to reflect. Consider where you want to be in the big picture, and then break it down into smaller, achievable milestones. Create at least a loose plan on how you can reach your goals – both short term goals and big, long term dreams. Mentally rehearse your actions and visualize the steps you need to take to get where you want to be. Have a picture for what it looks like to succeed.
Remember, plans may need to adapt as life unfolds, but having a loose plan in place provides a roadmap for you to follow. As Mike Tyson famously said, “Everybody’s got a plan until they get punched in the nose.” Embrace flexibility and adaptability while maintaining your clear intention.
Finishing strong is a skill that can be developed over time, and it’s something we often work on with our coaching clients.
